Delhi: Massive fire breaks out at Mayur Vihar cafe, 1 fireman injured

Late on Sunday night, a large fire broke out at a multi-storey building in Delhi's Mayur Vihar Phase 2 neighborhood. For more than ten hours, the Delhi Fire Service Personnel (DFSP) have been working to put out the flames. A cafe and a uniform making shop next to the Neelam Mata Temple were both damaged by the fire.

According to SK Dua, deputy chief fire officer of the Delhi Fire Service, up to 23 fire engines arrived at the scene to put out the fire, which had spread to all three storeys of the structure. The building was eventually affected by the fire that started at the cafe.

"At approximately 11:40 p.m. yesterday, the Delhi Fire Service received a call regarding the fire. We were informed that there was a fire at this Jung cafe. But by the time we arrived, the building's three levels were completely engulfed in flames," Dua stated on Monday.

According to the fire department, one firefighter was hurt in the incident, and one person was saved from the building's roof. There were no confirmed injuries from the building.

"There are twenty-five fire trucks present. As of right today, no casualties have been recorded. One individual who was in the third-floor office on the terrace has been saved by us. However, the enormous fire has harmed one member of the squad. This place lacks a functional ventilation system, which is how the fire spread. The fire has only affected about 12 to 15 stores. The fire is now under control," the deputy fire officer declared.

Both facilities have sustained substantial damage from the fire, and their inside contents have been destroyed. Images captured from the area revealed significant property damage. Locals in the vicinity discovered the fire on Sunday night and sounded the alarm.

Firefighters arrived at the spot within an hour after everyone was quickly evacuated from the building and cafe. the fire is currently under control, according to the officials.
