Narendra Modi thanks Elon Musk to assures good business environment

The leader of the NDA in parliament and the incoming prime minister, Narendra Modi, thanked Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, on Saturday for wishing him luck in the 2024 Indian general elections.

In response to the billionaire's well-wishes, Prime Minister Modi stated that the nation's youth, steady democratic governance, and consistent policies will keep the business environment favorable for investors.

"Thank you, @elonmusk, for your kind words. All of our partners will continue to have access to a stable democratic political system, our smart young people, predictable policies, and a stable demographic," he wrote in a post on X. Three days following Tuesday's announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, Musk wished Modi well and discussed the future of his companies in India.

"Congratulations on winning the biggest democratic elections in history, @narendramodi! Anticipating my companies' interesting work in India," he remarked. Following Narendra Modi's election as the leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party and the submission of endorsement letters from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), President Droupadi Murmu named Modi as the prime minister-designate on Friday.

Out of the 543 parliamentary constituencies, the opposition's INDIA alliance won 234 seats and the BJP-led NDA got 293 seats in the most recent elections.

Meanwhile, there are several rumors that Musk plans to establish his first Tesla facility in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, or Gujarat. The carmaker has announced plans to invest $3 billion, which comes at the same time that India reduced import duties on some electric vehicles earlier this year for manufacturers who pledged to contribute at least $500 million. Additionally, Musk was supposed to travel to India from April 20 to 22, but his plans were abruptly canceled. He announced that he will be returning to the nation later this year, citing his rigorous schedule with Tesla as the reason for his cancellation.

In addition to Musk, a number of international politicians and businessmen congratulated Modi on his election victory, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
