PM Modi to attend Pokhran wargame showcasing indigenous capabilities

New Delhi: On March 12, the eve of the announcement of the 2024 General Elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the war game "Bharat Shakti" in Pokhran, Rajasthan. Only indigenously developed military systems and platforms will be used in the drill. The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Anil Chauhan, along with other prominent members of the tri-services would be present at the war simulation.

Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to urge the military command to develop a tactics-led revolution in military affairs that is India-centric and unique to the Indian geography and security threats to Bharat, as a showcase for his "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" vision.

It is agreed that "Bharat Shakti" would assess the performance of Indian-developed network-centric platforms and systems using a war game. While the Indian Army is fully indigenous, the technology-oriented Indian Air Force and Indian Navy are still working toward being indigenous, especially in the areas of submarine construction and aircraft engine manufacturing.

The exercise will also assess the resilience and integrity of these systems to ensure that the adversary cannot compromise native communication systems and networks in hostile environments. Aside from this, the main objective of the "Bharat Shakti" exercise will be to promote cooperation across the three services, all of which have an inclination to operate independently. Additionally on display will be Tejas fighter aircraft, K-9 artillery guns, indigenous drones, Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers, and short-range missiles.

Since PM Modi's unambiguous demand for "Aatmanirbhar Bharat," the three services have focused on developing technologies such as secure mobile telephony, which is created by the Indian Army. The secure mobile phone, which is based on imported phone equipment and a private Indian operator, has been assessed for resilience by the three services; nonetheless, all calls are encrypted completely. The phone has been tested against hacking and is currently being tested as a pilot project by the top brass of the three providers. Using all of the nation's network-centric indigenous technology, PM Modi will confer with the senior brass during the war scenario in order to further bolster the lethality of the Indian armed forces..
