PM Narendra Modi tries his hands on ’dhol’ in Singapore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday, receiving a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora upon reaching his hotel in the morning. In a lively display, PM Modi joined the crowd by playing the dhol, showcasing his skills and connecting with the community. Earlier, upon his arrival at Changi Airport from Brunei, he was greeted by Indian High Commissioner to Singapore Shilpak Ambule, Singapore's High Commissioner to India Simon Wong, and other officials.

During his visit to Singapore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet with his Singaporean counterpart, Lawrence Wong, to review the progress of the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership. The two leaders will also discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

PM Modi is scheduled to meet with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and interact with Singaporean leadership, as well as business leaders from the country. This visit to Singapore follows his official trip to Brunei, where he held extensive talks with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah at Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan. The discussions focused on strengthening the relationship between India and Brunei.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, stating, "Delighted to meet His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. Our talks were wide-ranging and included ways to further cement bilateral ties between our nations. We are going to further expand trade ties, commercial linkages, and people-to-people exchanges." During his time in Brunei, Modi also inaugurated the new Chancery of the High Commission of India in Bandar Seri Begawan and visited the historic Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.

Commenting on PM Modi's visit to Brunei, Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) at the Ministry of External Affairs, noted that the Prime Minister was received at the Royal Palace by Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. They had detailed discussions on advancing bilateral relations, covering areas such as defense, trade and investment, space, energy, health, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
