Rajinikanth leaves for Delhi to attend Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony: ‘It is a healthy sign for democracy’

Actor Rajinikanth is scheduled to arrive in the nation's capital shortly and is expected to attend PM-designate Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony on Sunday. The third time that Modi has taken office, according to him, is a significant accomplishment and a positive indication for democracy.

The event will take place on Sunday in Delhi on the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. He was seen departing from his Chennai home for Delhi earlier in the day.

Shows his support for Narendra Modi

The actor complimented Modi to reporters who were waiting outside the airport as he departed for Delhi. "I intend to participate in the ceremony of swearing in... This is a truly historic occasion. My sincere congratulations go out to Narendra Modi on his noteworthy accomplishment of taking power for a third straight term. A strong opposition has been elected by the people, which is encouraging for democracy," Rajinikanth told the reporters.

When asked what he anticipated happening over the next five years, Rajinikanth responded that he expected effective government.

What do we know about the ceremony?

On Sunday, June 9, Narendra Modi will take the oath of office as prime minister for a third time in a row, having secured a majority for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the just ended Lok Sabha elections. The national capital's Rashtrapati Bhavan's Forecourt will host the massive event starting at 7:15 p.m.

Over 8,000 people, including a variety of professionals and cultural entertainers, are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony, according to the officials. Given that Modi will be departing later this week for the G7 conference in Italy, the guest list has been limited to a minimum, according to sources cited by ANI. President Droupadi Murmu will host a banquet for the dignitaries at Rashtrapati Bhavan after the event.

Rajinikanth’s latest work

Regarding his professional life, Rajinikanth has a number of intriguing movies coming out.
