US signs on more bombs and warplanes for Israel amid war

The Washington Post revealed on Friday that the US has approved the transfer of fighter jets and munitions worth billions of dollars to Israel in recent days, while openly expressing worries about an impending military assault in Rafah.

According to the newspaper, which cited Pentagon and State Department sources familiar with the situation, the latest armament supplies comprise more than 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs.

Washington provides Israel, a longstanding friend, with $3.8 billion in military aid each year. Though some Democrats and Arab American groups have questioned the Biden administration's unwavering support of Israel, claiming it gives it a sense of impunity, the United States has been sending air defenses and ammunition to Israel quickly.
