Veteran Congress leader and ex-UP Governor Aziz Qureshi dies

Aziz Qureshi, a prominent Congress leader and former governor of Uttar Pradesh, passed away on Friday at a local hospital following a protracted illness, according to a family member.

According to his caretaker, nephew Sufian Ali, Qureshi was eighty-three years old.
He said that he had been unwell for some time and had passed away at approximately 11 a.m. in a Bhopal private hospital.

Qureshi had held the positions of governor of Mizoram, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

According to Ali, he was initially elected as an MLA from the Madhya Pradesh seat of Sehore in 1972 and joined the Lok Sabha in 1984.

Qureshi had no partners. He further said that later this evening, his death rituals would be carried out.
