Vyjayanthimala presents PM Modi with shawl as they meet in Chennai

The second-highest civilian honor in the country, the Padma Vibhushan, was recently given to Vyjayanthimala. Republic Day eve saw the announcement of the Padma Awards 2024.

In Chennai, legendary actor Vyjayanthimala met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Monday, PM Modi posted photos from his meeting with Vyjayanthimala on X, the erstwhile Twitter platform.

PM Modi meets Vyjayanthimala

In the first photo, Vyjayanthimala is seen embracing PM Modi with folded hands while she encircles him in a cream-colored shawl. She came to the conference dressed in a cream and golden saree. In a different picture, they were all seated in a room having a talk.

PM writes a note

Prime Minister Modi shared the photos and commented, "Happy to have seen Vyjayanthimala ji in Chennai. She just received the Padma Vibhushan award and is well-liked throughout India for her outstanding contribution to the Indian film industry." One person responded to the post by saying, "What a great interaction! Congratulations to Vyjayanthimala ji for being awarded the Padma Vibhushan, an honor that is well-deserved for her outstanding contributions to Indian cinema."

Hema Malini and Vyjayanthimala recently met

Actor Hema Malini visited Vyjayanthimala at her home recently as well. Hema posted a number of photos of herself with the actor on Instagram. Hema was dressed in a green suit, while Vyjayanthimala donned a yellow saree. Hema had captioned the photo, "Most memorable day of my life: meeting my role model, the icon Vyjayanthimala along with her lovely family at her Chennai residence yesterday."

She added, "She still has so much dance in her; she is so full of life." She exudes a radiance and an aura, chats and practices dance. I was still as amazed as I had been years before! We had a sentimental conversation about her time in movies and her experiences working in the business. She is a wealth of knowledge. Being showered with affection by this exquisite woman who exudes beauty on the inside and out was truly a wonderful experience for me.

Concering Vyjayanthimala

At the age of sixteen, Vyjayanthimala made her on-screen debut in the 1949 Tamil film Vaazhkai. Her film debut in Hindi was in Bahar (1951). Her debut came from the romantic film Nagin (1954). Among her famous movies are Devdas, Sangam, Madhumanti, and Naya Daur. The film Ganwaar from 1970 was her last appearance.
