Travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar, 27, dies after falling into 300-foot gorge near Mumbai

Travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar, 27, of Mumbai passed away while shooting an Instagram reel and fell into a gorge.

On July 16, Kamdar, a chartered accountant who posted travelogues on Instagram under the handle @theglocaljournal, visited the well-known Kumbhe waterfall in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. Seven of her peers were within her, according to news agency PTI.

According to a Mangaon police station spokesman, Kamdar slipped and fell into a 300-foot gorge while shooting a video. Her companions informed the local authorities, who promptly took action. According to NDTV, the Maharashtra State Electricity Board employees, the Coast Guard, and the Kolad rescue squad all provided assistance to the rescue crew.

"As soon as we arrived, it became apparent that the girl had fallen between 300 and 350 feet. It became raining and she had been injured so even when they got to her, it was hard to bring her up. Thus, we made the decision to use a vertical pulley to lift her," a rescuer told NDTV.

Large stones kept cascading down the gorge, hampering the rescue effort, another rescue operator told Lokmat. After an operation lasting six hours, Kamdar was retrieved from the gorge. She did, however, sustain severe injuries in the collision and pass away in the hospital from those wounds.

According to a Mangaon police station official, after her rescuers brought her to the adjacent Mangaon taluka government hospital, she passed away while receiving treatment. When viewing waterfalls during the rainy season, visitors have been advised by authorities to take particular caution.
