Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz to force a change in BCCI central contracts after India vs England 5th Test

After the fifth Test match between India and England in Dharamsala, Dhurv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan are expected to be forced into BCCI central contracts.

The BCCI revealed a list of annual retainership on Wednesday, and aside from the highly publicized absences of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer, there were a few more noteworthy names missing. Young Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel were the two most well-known. Against England in Rajkot during the same Test, Sarfaraz and Jurel made their debuts for India. Jurel excelled with a tough 46, but Sarfaraz hammered half-centuries in both Test innings.

In the fourth Test in Ranchi, Jurel—who was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh—put on an even greater display, winning Player of the Match honors both with the bat and with the gloves behind the wicket. India won the match by five wickets and took a commanding 3-1 lead in the five-match series because to Jurel's 90 runs in the first innings and his unbeaten 39 during a challenging 192-run chase.

Why were Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel left out of the BCCI central contracts?

Sarfaraz and Jurel were left out of the BCCI yearly central contracts in spite of this. Rajat Patidar, who has played in six Test innings this series and scored a maximum of 32, was placed in Grade C of the central contracts. However, how and why?

There's an easy way to answer it. For any cricket player to be eligible for central contracts, BCCI requires minimum requirements. To be eligible for annual contracts, a cricket player must participate in at least three Tests, eight ODIs, or ten Twenty20 Internationals. While Patidar has already made three appearances in the Test arena, Sarfaraz, Jurel, and each other have only played two Tests.

Athletes will also be automatically added to Grade C on a pro-rata basis if they fulfill the requirement of participating in at least three Tests, eight ODIs, or ten Twenty20 Internationals within the allotted time, according to a statement from BCCI.

Why the outcome of the India vs. England fifth test is expected to shift

However, as early as the first week of March, things are expected to start to shift. Starting on March 7, Sarfaraz and Jurel will undoubtedly feature in the fifth and final Test match against England. They will then have three Test points, qualifying them for the central contract. Following the Dharamsala Test, Sarfaraz and Jurel will be included right away to the Grade C yearly contract list, according to the BCCI.

For example, after playing two Test matches each, Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan will be promoted to Grade C if they play in the Dharamsala Test Match, which is the fifth Test of the current series against England, the BCCI said.
