Ruturaj Gaikwad off to winning start as CSK captain; RCB lose by six wickets

Highlights of CSK vs. RCB, IPL 2024: when the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, Ruturaj Gaikwad has led his team to victory early in the 2024 IPL season, when they defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of the New Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Rachin Ravindra, his new opening partner, got the home team off to a great start chasing 174 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), but they were dragged to a score. But CSK methodically took out the objective, beginning with the opening duo of Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra, who gave them a false start.

Yash Dayal, who replaced Dinesh Karthik as an Impact Player, eventually defeated Gaikwad on 15 off in as many innings. RCB did not, however, get a break as Ravindra carried on in the same manner and Ajinkya Rahane appeared to have resumed his play from the previous season. In the powerplay, CSK amassed 62 runs at the expense of one wicket. After dismissing Rahane on 27 off 19 after a breathtaking catch by Glenn Maxwell, Ravindra went down for 37 off 15 balls. Following Mustafizur Rahman, who was CSK's best bowler, Shivam Dube replaced Daryl Mitchell as the team's impact player.

Prior to this, Mustafizur Rahman had a fantastic day for CSK with the ball, taking four wickets to disrupt RCB's top order. Before CSK retaliated and halted their progress, RCB was dominating the game and had reached 41/0 in 4.3 overs. After removing Faf du Plessis, Mustafizur went on the rampage, dismissing Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar for a duck each. Before the fizz got to him too, Virat Kohli had advanced to 21 off 20, and he added a fourth in the shape of Cameron Green to leave RCB reeling at 78/5. But Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat gave RCB a fight, scoring 95 runs off 50 balls for the sixth wicket. After winning the toss, RCB captain Du Plessis decided to bat first.
